MAC REQUIRED TEST SCORES:
Mineral Area College requires minimum standardized test scores for course enrollment, and FHS abides by these guidelines in our dual credit courses. Before requesting enrollment from your grade-level counselor, be sure that you meet the minimum scores. Effective November 2016, COMPASS will no longer be an option and it will be replaced with ACCUPLACER (no information at this time); IF you need required min test scores for SP17 enrollment, you are advised to take the COMPASS prior to the Nov 1 cutoff date.
NOTE: Students are advised to take the ACT to achieve placement scores well in advance of the year/semester of taking a college course. Students seem to have difficulty meeting the minimum ACCUPLACER scores.
- **Clarifying some confusion regarding MAC's Multiple Measures Placement for English/Reading/Math with students scores are too low to meet placement requirement: dual credit students are NOT eligible for Mult Measures Placement because the rules for dual credit at the state level require high school students to be "advanced" for placement. Bottom line: If you don't have the minimum required test scores for a course, you cannot take it for college credit; high school students do not meet the guidelines for Multiple Measures/Corequisite Course placement (requires grades from 8 semesters of high school prior to Multiple Measures Placement).
You will find minimum test scores listed with each specific course number listed under the "Courses & Institutions" tab, then "Available Courses at FHS." Access the generic MAC Placement Scores effective FA15 here:
